Frequently Asked Questions about Exterior House Painting

Exterior house painting in Baltimore is one of our most popular services, especially this time of year. So we thought we would take the time to answer some of the questions we hear the most about this type of professional painting service.

Q: How can I prepare my home for my professional exterior house painting project?

A: It is a huge help when our clients help prepare their homes for our visit. And before we come to your house for exterior house painting, there are definitely a few things you can do to prep. One big thing you can do is remove any lawn ornaments or decorations and put them somewhere safe. While we always take great care to make sure we do not inadvertently damage your belongings, accidents sometimes happen.

Also, make sure that any pets that are outdoors are kept somewhere safe while we are painting. This is for everyone’s safety and well-being. Finally, make sure any young children that live in your home are told not to touch our equipment while we are there. Again, this is for everyone’s safety and well-being.

Q: What are some of the things your crew will do to prepare for my exterior house painting project?

A: We first lay down drop cloths over your plants and other landscaping to make sure we don’t get paint on any of your flowers or shrubs. We will then begin to scrape the old paint off of your home’s siding, if need be.

After that, we will patch any holes and make sure the walls are in good shape. From there, we apply a coat of primer if it is needed. Finally, we begin applying as many coats of paint needed to ensure that your home gets even coverage and that each wall and all of the trim looks great.

Q: How does Bay Country Painters stand apart from the rest of the exterior house painting companies out there?

A: Our team of exterior house painting professionals is incredibly detail-oriented. After each coat of primer (if it is needed) and paint, we take a step back and look at each wall as a whole. We make sure every single part of it looks great and that the coats of primer and/or paint were all evenly applied.

We then take it a step further and look at every part of the wall and any trim that we painted carefully to ensure we did not miss any spots and to make sure each wall and piece of trim looks great.

Choosing the Best Commercial Painting Company

As a business owner, you have a lot on your plate. And if you know your business’ exterior and interior need some TLC, that’s just another stressor to add to the mix. So what’s the best way to make sure you get the best bang for your buck when choosing a commercialpainting company? Here are a few of our favorite tips.

Choose a Company that is Licensed
A legit commercial painting company, like Bay Country Painters, should be fully licensed in the state they are working in. Bay Country Painters is licensed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission. Call the commercial painting company you are thinking about hiring and ask for their license information.

Choose a Company that has Experience
You don’t want to choose a commercial painting company that has only been open for a week. You want to go with a company like Bay Country Painters that has decades of experience under their belts. We have been open for more than 30 years and have tackled a wide variety of commercial painting jobs.

Choose a Company that is Insured
If one of the commercial painting company’s workers falls and injures themselves on your property and that company doesn’t carry liability insurance, you are liable for the injury. A commercial painting company like Bay Country Painters carries liability insurance to make sure you are not held at fault if one of our workers falls and hurts himself or herself.

Choose a Company that has References
A reputable commercial painting company like Bay Country Painters will have references for you if you request them. You should definitely request them and call a few of them. Ask the reference about the overall experience, and be sure to ask for more detail if they say anything negative about the commercial painting company.

Types of Paint Finishes

Choosing the right type of paint finish is just as important as choosing the paint color. We are painting contractors serving Crownsville, so we know a few things about paint finish. The different kind of paint finishes can be confusing if you’re not sure what you’re looking at. So here is an overview of each type.

A matte finish is the most popular type of paint finish. Also known as flat finish, this is the best kind of paint finish to hide wall imperfections like cracks and bumps. This type of finish does not let blemishes show through, so it’s a favorite among homeowners and painting contractors. When you hire us as your painting contractors, of course we will spackle and repair any wall imperfections we see! But this is a great finish if you are trying to do some painting on your own.

An eggshell finish has a very light sheen to it. It’s not just a clever name – the sheen resembles that of an eggshell. This is a great choice for nurseries or children’s playrooms. It’s easily cleaned and easy to maintain, and cleaning the walls will not damage the paint if you use mild soap and a soft cloth.

Satin finish is a great choice if you are having your painting contractors paint your windows, doors or other trim work. This is another great choice for walls that could potentially get messy, such as your kitchen or child’s room. Easily cleaned and easily maintained, this type of finish will hold up as well as egg finish when you need to give it a quick wipe down.

And if you need help figuring out what kind of paint finish to use, just ask one of our painting contractors when you hire us! We’ll be happy to assist you.

Interior Painting in Cockeysville MD: What Color Should You Choose?

So you’ve hired Bay Country Painters to do some interior painting. Cockeysville MD home and business owners can take a few hints about color selection from us in this blog. We realize that choosing the perfect color for your home and/or office can be a difficult task, so we hope this blog helps you come to a decision about the best interior painting colors to suit your mood and needs!

Office: Blue is the best color for an office. It encourages productivity and motivation.

Kitchen: Yellow is a great color for a kitchen. It can help increase your metabolism and energy.

Bedroom: Green encourages relaxation and tranquility.

Living Room:  Lavender can encourage relaxation as well, plus it can help calm your frazzled nerves.

Dining Room: Red can encourage people’s appetites and make them even more hungry!

And if you’re a Cockeysville MD business owner looking for interior painting ideas, here are a few more color tips for you.

If blue isn’t your favorite color, try green if you want to encourage relaxation, like if your Cockeysville MD industry is high-stress. White is also a good choice for interior painting because it’s a neutral color, reflects more light and can help keep your Cockeysville MD workers feeling peppy and optimistic. But if you want something that can help enhance your workers’ concentration, a nice shade of yellow is a good choice. It can help people focus on the task at hand and can help sleepy workers stay more alert.

For all of your interior painting needs in Cockeysville MD, call Bay Country Painters at (410) 544-4400 or 1-800-937-2468, or contact us online for a free estimate. We can also offer suggestions on interior painting colors and we can answer any other questions you have about our services!

Our Home Painting Experience

Welcome to the all-new Bay Country Painters blog. We’ll use this blog to provide you with information about commercial and residential painting, but also post pictures and info on projects we’re working on.

Today, we’ll look at projects we’ve worked on, but are still big highlights for the Bay Country Painters team. Here are some of our favorites from over the years:

Maryland governor’s mansion
In mid-October 2011, we commenced work on repainting the entire exterior of the Maryland governor’s mansion. It was a truly awesome, humbling experience for our team.

Bisciotti residences
Any Baltimore Ravens fan will know the names Stephen and Rene Bisciotti. The two own the Ravens, and Bay Country Painters handled all the interior and exterior painting and coatings work on their personal residences.

Plank residence
We completed a large, complicated painting project in Annapolis for Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Plank, founder and owner of the Under Armour Corporation for Winchester Construction Company.

Sajak residence
When it comes to game shows, there are few names more associated with them than Pat Sajak, the host of “Wheel of Fortune.” We painted the personal residence of Pat and Lesly Sajak, handling all interior and exterior painting and coatings work.

Kelly residence
We performed all interior and exterior painting and coatings work on the personal residence of Brendan and Holly Kelly, owners of SmartLink and the Chesapeake BayHawks Professional Lacrosse Team.

Bay Country Painters has had an exciting history so far. We can’t wait to see what lies ahead.
