Preparing for Interior House Painting

If you schedule us to do the interior house painting in your Davidsonville home, you may wonder what you need to do to prepare. There are a few things you can do on your own to get your home ready for painting. If needed, we can offer assistance moving heavy furniture and other items when we get there.

Here are some things to do before we arrive:

  • If we are doing several rooms and you have a specific order you would like them done, write it down and give it to us. That way, we know what room to tackle first.
  • Make sure you know what paint colors you want in which rooms before our interior house painting team arrives, and be sure that is communicated to us clearly. This also includes the trim and any other parts of the room we may be painting. We want to make sure there is no confusion on what color goes where.
  • Move all furniture out of the rooms that are going to be painted before we arrive. If you are not able to move the furniture out of the rooms, slide all of it to the center of each room. We can cover the furniture with drop cloths to prevent any paint from accidentally getting on it. If you need help moving larger pieces of furniture, we can assist with that.
  • Remove everything from the walls, including wall hangings, pictures, photos, frames, window treatments and drapes. Again, we can assist with this process if needed.
  • If you have any fragile or valuable items in any of the rooms to be painted, it’s best to remove those and store them somewhere safe. We do our best to avoid accidents, but it is always wisest to err on the side of caution.
  • Be sure all children and pets are kept away from the area we are working. This ensures their safety and our safety. It also prevents anything from happening to the paint as it is drying.
  • Let us know if there is a specific location to park our work van. This can be important if you have other contractors or workers at your home the same day we do the interior house painting.

Hopefully, these tips will help you be prepared for our interior house painting services. Proper preparation helps the job go smoothly and efficiently and gets you the finished product you desire.

Why is Fall the Best Time of Year to Hire Our Painting Services

It seems that a lot of home improvement projects swing into gear when the fall arrives. People want to get their homes ready for the upcoming holiday season. And with the cold and snowy weather coming, homeowners usually don’t want contractors coming in and out of their homes. Our painting services in Baltimore and the surrounding areas seem to get busier this time of year. So here are a few reasons fall is one of the best times of year to get your home painted.

As mentioned, the holiday season is coming up soon. Hiring our painting services to paint the outside of your home can add curb appeal, and it can also make your home seem more warm and welcoming to your guests and loved ones. If we paint the inside of your home, a few fresh coats of paint can really freshen up the look of your home. Even if you aren’t having any remodeling work done otherwise, new paint can make your home feel like it is brand new.

Speaking of, if you want to make some home improvements but you don’t want to break the bank, call our painting services. We can paint just one room in your home or your entire house inside and out. You can get your home holiday-ready in no time with the help of our professional painters and our painting services. Don’t worry: no job is too big or too small for us.

This time of year, the temperatures start to cool down and the air starts to dry out. These weather conditions are ideal for our painting services. Cooler temperatures (as long as they don’t dip below freezing after dark) are great for helping paint to properly dry and adhere to the surface of your home’s exterior walls. The same thing goes for interior walls too. Plus it’s easier to dry paint inside of your home since you can just open up some windows and let the breeze take care of it. This also helps clear out any paint fumes.

These are only a handful of reasons you should call to learn about our painting services before the winter weather hits. We can think of plenty others, so contact us and we can get started on your painting project as soon as possible!

Frequently Asked Questions about Exterior House Painting

Exterior house painting in Baltimore is one of our most popular services, especially this time of year. So we thought we would take the time to answer some of the questions we hear the most about this type of professional painting service.

Q: How can I prepare my home for my professional exterior house painting project?

A: It is a huge help when our clients help prepare their homes for our visit. And before we come to your house for exterior house painting, there are definitely a few things you can do to prep. One big thing you can do is remove any lawn ornaments or decorations and put them somewhere safe. While we always take great care to make sure we do not inadvertently damage your belongings, accidents sometimes happen.

Also, make sure that any pets that are outdoors are kept somewhere safe while we are painting. This is for everyone’s safety and well-being. Finally, make sure any young children that live in your home are told not to touch our equipment while we are there. Again, this is for everyone’s safety and well-being.

Q: What are some of the things your crew will do to prepare for my exterior house painting project?

A: We first lay down drop cloths over your plants and other landscaping to make sure we don’t get paint on any of your flowers or shrubs. We will then begin to scrape the old paint off of your home’s siding, if need be.

After that, we will patch any holes and make sure the walls are in good shape. From there, we apply a coat of primer if it is needed. Finally, we begin applying as many coats of paint needed to ensure that your home gets even coverage and that each wall and all of the trim looks great.

Q: How does Bay Country Painters stand apart from the rest of the exterior house painting companies out there?

A: Our team of exterior house painting professionals is incredibly detail-oriented. After each coat of primer (if it is needed) and paint, we take a step back and look at each wall as a whole. We make sure every single part of it looks great and that the coats of primer and/or paint were all evenly applied.

We then take it a step further and look at every part of the wall and any trim that we painted carefully to ensure we did not miss any spots and to make sure each wall and piece of trim looks great.

Choosing the Best Commercial Painting Company

As a business owner, you have a lot on your plate. And if you know your business’ exterior and interior need some TLC, that’s just another stressor to add to the mix. So what’s the best way to make sure you get the best bang for your buck when choosing a commercialpainting company? Here are a few of our favorite tips.

Choose a Company that is Licensed
A legit commercial painting company, like Bay Country Painters, should be fully licensed in the state they are working in. Bay Country Painters is licensed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission. Call the commercial painting company you are thinking about hiring and ask for their license information.

Choose a Company that has Experience
You don’t want to choose a commercial painting company that has only been open for a week. You want to go with a company like Bay Country Painters that has decades of experience under their belts. We have been open for more than 30 years and have tackled a wide variety of commercial painting jobs.

Choose a Company that is Insured
If one of the commercial painting company’s workers falls and injures themselves on your property and that company doesn’t carry liability insurance, you are liable for the injury. A commercial painting company like Bay Country Painters carries liability insurance to make sure you are not held at fault if one of our workers falls and hurts himself or herself.

Choose a Company that has References
A reputable commercial painting company like Bay Country Painters will have references for you if you request them. You should definitely request them and call a few of them. Ask the reference about the overall experience, and be sure to ask for more detail if they say anything negative about the commercial painting company.
